Welcome to Monday, it's also RUDOLPH DAY!

Morning readers,

Hope you all enjoyed a tremendous weekend and are refreshed and ready to ... make Christmas cards, since it's Rudolph Day today. Here's mine for the challenge of "BAUBLES", set by a friend on a private blog I belong to.

My card, I like the idea of a singing ornament!
And a closer view of the image to show colouring and sparkle!

The front, back and inside of my card along with the front and back of my envelope

Materials used:
  • 12.7cm square white, 250gsm, card and matching sized envelope
  • Two pieces of white card cut to 11.5cm square
  • One piece of DCWV linen texture red card, cut to 12.2cm square
  • StampaBarbara (Caroling ornament 020306 - had for like EVER!)  snowman image and Penny Black sentiment (from the giving and receiving set) stamped using Memento tuxedo black ink
  • Inkadinkado sentiment (everywhere but the card front) stamped using Versafine satin red ink
  • Faber Castell polychromos pencils used to add colour to the snowman bauble
  • Mod Podge gloss painted over the snowman and then, whilst wet, glamour dust liberally sprinkled, left for 30 minutes and then the excess shaken off, gives a lovely twinkle to a Christmas card. Felt good to use the glamour dust - seems to have been an age since I did and yet I do so love the effect

I'll be entering this for the following challenges:-
  1. Scraps of Life - September 25th challenge - ANYTHING (Christmas) GOES
  2. Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas Challenge - challenge No. 352 - ANYTHING CHRISTMAS GOES
  3. Penny Black - September challenge - GET READY FOR CHRISTMAS
  4. Hiding In My Craft Room - challenge No. 319 - ANY HOLIDAY

And now ... an ATC which uses stash I've had  as NBUS ...... since February of 2010!!! AT LAST!

My ATC
Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • Snippets of card in neon pink and white
  • Inkadinkado image (NBUS .....from 60-30099 Valentine/spring assortment mini set - in my stash since FEB 2010!!!) stamped using Memento tuxedo black ink
  • Faber Castell polychromos pencils used to colour  image and background
  • Woodware sentiment (FRS352 Fantasy Land set) stamped on to a snippet of white card using Memento tuxedo black and then "pounced" with Hero Arts neon pink ink
  • Masking a strip for the sentiment to be attached I sprayed Crafters Companion spray and shine over the ATC and, whilst wet, applied a liberal coating of glamour dust ... left it for a while, shook off the excess back in to the pot and then attached the sentiment before applying a sealant coat of spray and shine over the top ..... to stop any loose glitter floating about the place!

I'll be entering this for the following challenges:-
  1. DJKardKreations - NBUS challenge No. 12 - NEVER BEFORE USED STASH
  2. The Corrosive Challenge - September challenge - ANYTHING GOES
  3. Sweet Stamper - 23rd September challenge - Team Abi - CUTE AND CUDDLY ... go on, tell me a unicorn like this wouldn't be cute and cuddly!!!
Yesterday, I discovered that I won over at Pixie's Crafty Workshop this week, thanks so much Di

Welcome to Friday ... the weekend starts here!

Morning readers,

Hope you've had a great week. Arguably, mine's been a bit "bitty" with very little working out QUITE to plan but hey, there will be other weeks when EVERYTHING goes to plan so it's good to mix it up, right?

Managed to hit the ToC (Table of Craftiness) pretty hard this week too, I was rummaging through my drawers (oo-er missus) and came across this little gem - had it for YEARS and decided it was high time it saw ink again .... I think you'll agree. I stand to be corrected but I THINK I probably bought this stamp in 2008/2009!

Welcome to What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday ........ downhill to the weekend!

Morning all,

Hope you are having a great week .... mine? Not quite so good .. broke the washing machine at the weekend, replacing it .. not without trauma and haven't yet got a delivery date. Meanwhile Mount Laundry is gaining height! Tried to close a bank account by phone - nope, online - nope, personal visit to branch - initially NOPE till we explained that we'd tried their other methods without success and keeping my money safe is one thing but so safe that I can't even get to it? RIDICULOUS! I'm now account less!! Under unit light in the kitchen - bulb blew, why do they only blow when it's DARK???? Go figure. Thank goodness I'm married to such a splendid fellow and so practical too. On the plus side two out of three issues resolved and the third will HOPEFULLY be resolved very soon.

Had to vent my spleen there, sorry peeps, then it was an unwinding session at the ToC (that's Table of Craftiness peeps .... who could fail to chill when you look at this very laid out little chap below!

Monday, 18 September 2017

Welcome to the start of another week . . . .

Morning all,

Welcoming new follower Tracey Thurston, thanks for stopping by, hope you will pop back again soon

I know that nobody enjoys making sympathy cards ... but they are occasionally necessary, so, I find it's better to make some when you don't actually NEED one, then you always have one (or more) on hand when the sad occasion arises. Here's one that I made recently ... whilst it doesn't have the largest amount of white space I would still class it as CAS (Clean And Simple) as it's just one focal image, has white space, minimal layers and embellishment AND I hope it's elegant in its simplicity which (IMHO) makes it suitable as a sympathy card .....

My card
And a closer view of the image

The front, back and inside of my card along with the front and back of my envelope

Materials used:
  • 12.7cm square white, 250gsm, card and matching sized envelope
  • Two pieces of white card cut to 11.5cm square and one piece of black cut to 12.2cm square
  • PSX lilies image (K1276 .. can hardly believe that I've had this image since around 1994 and probably haven't used it in ten years!) stamped using Memento tuxedo black
  • touch of colour added using Faber Castell polychromos pencils and the lightest touch of stardust stickles
  • On the envelope and insert I used Hero Arts sentiment (from set C1342) which I stamped using Memento tuxedo black ink

I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:-
  1. Colour Crazy - challenge No. 37 - ANYTHING hand coloured GOES
  2. Emerald City Crafts - challenge No. 3 - ANYTHING GOES
  3. Addicted to CAS - challenge No. 120 - FLORALS

And then a more cheery birthday card also using stash I've had for AGES, I love the fun border, I think it really lifts the image too - hope you agree

My card

The front, back and inside of my card along with the front and back of my envelope

Materials used:
  • 12.7cm square white, 250gsm, card and matching sized envelope
  • Three pieces of white card, two cut to 11.5cm square and one to 12.2cm square
  • On the smaller card panels (reverse of card and on envelope) Inkadinkado tree image (Utopiary set) stamped using Versafine onyx black ink
  • TPC Studio birthday sentiments (from the Cupcakes set) stamped using Ranger Archival paradise teal ink
  • On the larger white card TPC Studio border stamped using Ranger Archival paradise teal ink
  • Stardust stickles to highlight

I'll be entering the above for the following challenges:-
  1. Simply Less Is More - challenge No. 346 - TAKE FLIGHT ... all those birds in the tree!
  2. That's Crafty - September 15th challenge - FLY AWAY
  3. Jo's Scrap Shack - challenge No. 206 - ANYTHING GOES

And, whilst I was thinking "TREES" I decided to use some NBUS

My ATC
Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • Snippets of card in both black and white
  • Inkadinkado trees (60-31346 Trees) inked using Memento tuxedo black on to white snippet and twice on to full coverage post which I then cut out and used as a mask before inking and stamping again with the mask in place.
  • With a second mask in place (to cover the second batch of trees) I applied distress inks in tumbled glass and stormy sky, using a Tim Holtz mini distress tool
  • With the masks still in place I stamped the Inkylicious sleigh image (Santa's Sleigh) using Versafine onyx black ink
  • With the mask removed I then applied Crafters Companion spray and shine to protect the water based inks
  • Stardust stickles to bling up the "snow" on the ground and trees
  • Once the image panel had been adhered to the black matting layer I thought it looked a bit bare so ... using the Color Box frost white ink and the Technique Tuesday border (border notions) I stamped the border around the outer edge and BAZINGA!

I'll be entering the above ATC for the following challenges:-
  1. Pixie's Crafty Workshop - challenge No. 299/300 - USE SNIPPETS
  2. Lil Patch of Crafty Friends - challenge No. 66 - ANYTHING GOES
  3. The Corrosive challenge - challenge No. 9 - ANYTHING GOES
