Doncha love using NBUS?

Morning all,

As the title of the post says ... "Doncha love to use NBUS"? That's Never Before Used Stash if you've never heard the acronym, coined by the lovely Darnell - anyhoo, I kept seeing the set of camel images in the run up to Christmas and was powerless to resist!

My card - inside reads "Don't get the hump! and Happy Birthday"

The front, back and inside of my card along with the front and back of my envelope

Materials used:
  • 15cm square white, 250gsm, card and matching sized envelope
  • One piece of grey pearl card cut to 14cm square
  • Two pieces of white card cut to 13½cm square
  • Using a square die I cut a centrally placed aperture in the grey card panel and drew a pencil line through it on to one of the white panels
  • Hobby Art camel image (from Camel ye faithful) stamped using the black soot ink from the Tim Holtz distress mixed media ink and also on to a white snippet
  • I stamped the fez (from the same set) on to a snippet of red using the same Distress mixed media ink
  • Faber Castell polychromos pens were used to colour both images
  • I fussy cut the head of the camel and fez (from the snippet images), glued the fez on to the head and set aside to dry.
  • Applying glue to the grey aperture panel I positioned the coloured camel image behind and, once happy with positioning pressed firmly in to place before attaching the fez/head using dimensional foam tape
  • Sparkle 'n Sprinkle sentiment partially stamped on to white snippet using masking paper and the Distress mixed media ink, once stamped, I cut in to a banner end and then matted on to a snippet of red card
  • Hobby Art sentiment (from the above camel set) stamped on the insert panel (and coloured using Kaisercraft black gel glitter pen) and also added the Happy Little Stampers birthday greeting (from Butterfly Birthday)

I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:-

I love to use stash before it hits the drawer (in case I forget about it ... it HAS happened!) and this main image today was a Christmas gift from my dear hubby. It just cried out to be CAS to the Nth degree, on this occasion, perfect for a masculine card - IMHO! Mind you .. I keep looking at it and thinking about a skyline and reflection in water - that might be my next project!

Midweek mutterings ...

Morning all,

Another wet and wild night last night, with the blinds rattling .. sure, I COULD have closed the window but then I'd have been hot - it's all about compromise!

What WASN'T about compromise last night was the splendid curry hubby and I enjoyed with a pal - it's been too long - YUMMMM!

I recently mentioned how much I LOVE to layer up stamps ... well, I sat at my ToC (Table of Craftiness) recently and ran up a contemporary card and then wondered, whilst I had all the stamps and inks out, whether I could make a contemporary baby card - jury's still out on whether it worked but I am hoping so - check out both makes below

My Birthday card, which I love

The front, back and inside of my card along with the front and back of my envelope

Materials used:
  • 12½cm square white, 250gsm, card and matching sized envelope
  • Two pieces of white card cut to 11½cm square
  • One piece of black card cut to 12¼cm square
  • Kaisercraft mini grid image stamped using Memento London fog ink
  • Kaisercraft rocks image stamped using Memento Paris dusk ink
  • Creative Expressions chevrons (from CEC851 Inspired Edges) and Happy Little Stampers sentiment (Mixed Media Fun) stamped using Memento tuxedo black ink
  • Creative Expressions splatter (from the same set) stamped using Memento grey flannel and Adirondack red pepper inks

I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:
  1. Try It On Tuesday - January 9th challenge - MY FAVOURITE THINGS .. and I DO love to layer stamps, ask anyone!
  2. Dragonfly Journeys - challenge No. 109 - HOORAY FOR BIRTHDAYS

  4. Stamps and Fun - challenge No. 315 - USE STAMPS
  5. Artistic Inspirations - challenge No. 192 - ANYTHING GOES

And, here's the card I made deploying the same stamps - well, whilst they were on the blocks, why not?!??! To mix it up a little I used a C6/A2 card blank, matted with grey instead of black and added the extra red splat along with the BABY sentiment. Contemporary? YES, Baby card? Not quite so sure but this was a slightly unusual card occasion

My BABY card using the same images .. not QUITE so convinced but ....
And now, it will probably not come as a surprise to hear that I am STILL making Christmas cards!! I can't seem to stop and my previous reason (that I had new Christmas stash) can't be the reason as the stamps I used are actually pretty old - so old, in fact, that  I have even lost the packaging!

  • Stardust stickles used to add some festive sparkle!
